Envy Test

PeopleSoft enhancements carry risk. Every change touches components, fields, and workflows that other processes depend on. Envy Test eliminates the manual testing burden by automating the validation of every enhancement before it reaches production — systematically, with a full audit trail, and in a continuous loop with Envy Enhance until the work is ready to ship.

How It Works

Enhance and Test share the same ephemeral PeopleSoft environment for each enhancement project. The environment runs on an EC2 Graviton instance with a copy of the client’s production database, set up specifically for the project. The developer and the AI work in that environment. Test executes in the same environment. Everything happens in one place.

The Iterative Loop

The loop between Enhance and Test works like linting and CI in a modern development workflow — iterative and automatic. When Enhance completes a piece of work, Test executes the relevant scripts from the client’s canonical test library against the live environment. Results flow back to Enhance. If something fails, Enhance works to resolve it autonomously and Test runs again. The loop continues without human intervention until either the work passes or a deterministic boundary is reached that requires human review. Only then is the draft pull request generated.

Complete Artifacts

Every execution generates a complete artifact package: timestamped screenshots at every step, a full execution log, and pass/fail status per step. All artifacts are stored in the client’s own AWS account.

When the project is complete and the PR is generated, the ephemeral environment is terminated. No lingering infrastructure. No ongoing cost.

Why It's Different

Tireless Execution

Manual testing is slow, inconsistent, and incomplete. It depends on the availability and attention of the people doing it. Envy Test doesn't get tired, doesn't skip steps, and doesn't miss a script because someone ran out of time before a deadline.

Growing Coverage

Test works from the client's canonical test library — existing test scripts that have been ingested, normalized, and stored in a structured database, plus new scripts as the client creates them. Coverage grows as the library grows. There will be gaps, particularly early on — but even a partial library is dramatically more thorough and consistent than manual testing, and it improves continuously over time.

Complete Workflow

The closed loop with Envy Enhance is what makes the development workflow complete. Enhance builds. Test validates. The loop runs until both pass. Nothing reaches production without clearing that full cycle.

The Guardrails

Test is built around the same principle as every Envy Agentic tool — AI should accelerate work, not make consequential decisions autonomously. The guardrails are structural, not advisory:

Every enhancement is tested in an isolated ephemeral environment that cannot affect production or any live system.

All artifacts — screenshots, logs, results — are stored in the client's own AWS account.

Failed scripts escalate to human review with the full attempt history attached — every step, every screenshot, the confidence score at the point of failure, and the AI's assessment of likely cause. Nothing reaches production without a complete, documented test cycle.
